According to CGTN, China has decided to issue five-year multiple-entry visas for qualified business personnel from the five Mekong countries of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.

On November 7, 2024, in Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands, Cai Weiming, China’s Ambassador to the Solomon Islands, and Jeremiah Manele, the Solomon Islands’ Minister of Foreign Affairs, signed an agreement on behalf of their respective governments. The document, titled "The Agreement on Mutual Visa Exemption for Holders of Ordinary Passports between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Solomon Islands," aims to facilitate travel between the two nations by waiving visa requirements for citizens holding ordinary passports.
