The spokesperson for the National Immigration Administration of China reported at a press conference held on July 5 that in the first half of the year, the number of foreigners entering the country through various ports reached 14.635 million, a year-on-year increase of 152.7%. Among them, 8.542 million entries were made through visa exemptions, accounting for 52% of the total, a year-on-year increase of 190.1%. The National Immigration Administration expects that the enthusiasm of foreigners coming to China will continue to rise in the second half of this year.


In the first half of the year, national immigration management agencies inspected 15.419 million transportation vehicles (aircraft, ships, trains, cars), a year-on-year increase of 56.9%. Among these, there were 405,000 aircraft, 211,000 ships, 50,000 trains, and 14.753 million cars. The administration issued 12.34 million ordinary passports, a year-on-year increase of 23.2%; issued 46.152 million entry-exit permits and endorsements for travel to and from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, a year-on-year increase of 7.8%; issued 1.431 million permits for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan residents traveling to and from the mainland (China), remaining basically the same year-on-year; issued 686,000 port visas, a year-on-year increase of 267.9%; and handled 388,000 residence permits for foreigners in China, a year-on-year increase of 2.4%.
