Brief Introduction to Henan Province<\/h2>\n

The name of Henan Province originates from its geographic location, which means \u201cthe south of the river\u201d, indicating that the province lies at the south of China's Yellow River. It covers about 160,000 square kilometers, which equals to about 62,000 square miles. The highlight of Henan Province, Mount Song lies in the southwest of its capital city Zhengzhou. It is one of the most famous mountains in China. Shaolin Temple, the most famous Buddhist temple in China, is located on Mount Song. Shaolin Temple and Shaolin Kung Fu have long taken on a legendary color and are famous both in and outside the country. Henan province is considered as the cradle of Chinese civilization because of its location on the Yellow River. The rich historic heritage has endowed it with numerous historic treasures, from primitive dwellings to earliest wheel-thrown pottery. The remains of some earliest human settlements have been unearthed here, including the over 7000-year-old Peiligang Culture Site, the 6000-year-old Yangshao Culture Remains, and the 5000-year-old Dahe Culture Remains. All these cultural remains have profound significance in the history of Chinese civilization.<\/p>\n

As the cradle of the Chinese civilization, Henan has over 3000 years of history. In history, over 20 Chinese dynasties chose cities in Henan as their capitals, as Shang dynasty (BC 1600 - BC 1046), Tang dynasty (618 AD - 907 AD), North Song dynasty (960 AD - 1127 AD) etc. As a result, Henan owns a large number of historical sites, as Shaolin Temple and Shaolin Kong Fu, Chen-styled Tai Chi Boxing, White Horse Temple (the first Chinese Buddhist temple),\u00a0<\/strong>Longmen Grottoes (UNESCO World Heritage Site), Yinxu Ruins (the origin of Oracle Bone Inscriptions, and UNESCO World Heritage Site),\u00a0<\/strong>Huang Di's hometown Scenic Area (the ancestor of Chinese), The Ancient Kaifeng City Wall (the Song dynasty city wall), and Millennium City Park (based on the top ten previous ancient Chinese painting: Along the River During the Qingming Festival) and so on. The GDP of Henan Province ranks the top five among all Chinese provinces for the past 16 years (1006 billion USD in 2019). The capital city Zhengzhou has been categorized the new tier one city. [Zhengzhou, which lies on the southern bank of the Yellow River, is the capital of Henan Province in the central part of China.
